Early Pregnancy – Anybody Had Stabbing Pains?

February 19th, 2014

Question by Wannabemum: Early Pregnancy – Any person Had Stabbing Pains?

From 7DPO I had these light stabbing pains that progressed into sharp ones as the days went buy. They were intermittent but occurred all day. Lasted about 4 days.

I then felt a strange sensation, like a feather stroking my uterus, unpleasant.

apart from intense tiredness for two days, this is the only symptoms, I have, so doubt am pregnant. Plus am 13DPO carried out an IC check and zilch. AF is due tomorrow,

Anybody been through the exact same thing.
meant to say as the days went “by” Lol.

Best advice my midwife gave me – the pain of pregnancy doesn’t start with labour!

There are all sorts of pains asociated with pregnancy as it develops. You may get sharp, stabbing “implantation pains” in the early weeks, then there will be lots of trapped wind in the early months, which can cause abdominal pain. Then the ligaments in your pelvis will stretch, this causes achy, stabbing pains on occasion. Then, about half way through pregnancy, the Braxton Hicks contractions may start and these are uncomfortable, sometimes painful tightenings which can make you go “ooooh”. Then the baby kicks you in the ribs – “ouch!”, and then comes labour. It’s all part of the experience of making a baby – and you will mis all of these pains when they are gone.

The only thing that should make you worry in the early months are strong, cramping pains and bleeding. If that happens, go get an ultrasound to check on your little one.

Best of luck with your pregnancy, what you are describing sounds like implantation pains.
