Query by annom2: Could this mean I’m pregnant if I’m 4 weeks late and ovulating?

My time period was due about 4 weeks ago, when i was anticipated to have my period, i had cramping and spotting and i thought i was beginning, but then nothing. i waited to see if i’d start off the following week, then the following week and absolutely nothing. the initial week in april was when i was scheduled to ovulate, and i am. my dr. informed me that you ovulate about a week soon after your period so does this indicate i skipped my time period? ive taken about four preg. exams because i have skipped my period and they have all came up damaging. i took a single yesterday and it was negative. we have been trying to get preg. for about six-7 months now, so im acquiring extremely hopefull, if anyone could aid me out with some advise, i would Tremendously value it!! THANK YOU!!!

I feel you have to wait a bit longer before the test shows positive, if you are pregnant. I would wait just a small longer, and check once more.

Excellent Luck

How do you know you are ovulating? Are you taking any injections or pills to help you conceive? Are you eating correctly or experienced any additional stress in your life lately? Those can factor in to missed period and give you a false sense of pregnancy. If you are taking anything to help you conceive that may be it also.Did your Dr tell you your ovulating or are you just experiencing cramping? I cramped for about the first month when I was pregnant with my son and I took a pregnancy test and it also came out negative and the same with my daughter. You need to ask your doctor to run some labs on you. That is the only test that is 100% accurate. Don’t stress over it that’s the last thing your body needs just relax schedule lab work and find out from there. Good Luck!!!!

When you get pregnant a hormone is released that stops ovulation (otherwise you could get pregnant again when you’re already pregnant). So if you are pregnant, you wouldn’t be ovulating.

If you feel strongly that you are ovulating, you probably just missed a period and now your cycle is back on track. Especially if you have no other symptoms of pregnancy other than that missed period. Other symptoms would be tender breasts, fatigue/tiredness, nausea, and frequent urination to name a few. Let me say something else…some women, early in pregnancy, get pelvic pain. It kinda feels like you’ve been doing a thousand sit ups (or some serious belly dancing!). This pain is from your ovaries, muscles, and ligaments stretching out to make room for the baby. This might be the “ovulation pain” you think you’re feeling? (or do you think you’re ovulating based on other factors like cervical mucous…you weren’t specific). Do you have any of these symptoms??

Since you are 4 weeks late from your last “real” period you could have a blood test done, especially if you are feeling other pregnancy symptoms. This would give you a definite answer. If it comes out negative, then you just skipped a month and you keep on trying.

Good luck, I hope you conceive soon!

Go to your doctor and get a blood test done. And don’t get your hopes up either until you get a positive test.
